Building Basics, From Reading Plans To Bucking That First Rivet

This intensive, 16 hour weekend primer is designed to get you through all of the basics, from reading the plans to completing a small wing project, by the time you leave, you will be well aware of what it takes to complete your RV project. For those of you that haven’t selected your RV, this is a perfect course for you as well, as we will spend some time looking at the different types of RV’s in the air today.

What you will walk away with:

  • RV Plans orientation
  • RV "Family of Airplanes" orientation
  • Aircraft hardware orientation
  • Basic sheet metal skills (including cutting, riveting, bending)
  • Tool orientation and selection advice
  • Workspace orientation
  • FAA builders and log requirements
  • Completed "mini-wing" project

Classes are from 8 am to 5 pm and include lunch.
All tools will be provided.
Student to instructor ratio is 5:1 so class size is limited.


Empennage Class

This intensive class is five days in our facility helping you get started in building your plane. We provide 5 hours of instruction/help per day, a place to build and all the tools that will be needed. We also have a paint booth for priming if you choose too. It is up to you how many hours you work a day. We recommend 8 to 10 hours a day. We encourage you to convince a family member or a friend to come along and help you out with your tail kit. There is NO additional fee for your helper! It would be very helpful to you if that person has some experience or has taken our Builder Basic Class.

If you have not completed your empennage in the five day Empennage Class you will have the option to continue building in the hangar.  The cost after the first five days will be $35 a day or $650 a month for the hangar and the use of tools. Our shop rate is $65 an hour or if you commit to a minimum of three hours the rate will be $45 an hour.

And remember, one assistant is free, so bring them along!

* For a reasonable fee, you can have your tail kit shipped directly to us. We will make all of the arrangements for you and store it for up to two months. Let us know if this will work for you.

Wings Class

This intensive class is 10 days in our facility helping you build your Wings. We provide 5 hours of instruction/help per day, a place to build and all the tools that will be needed. We also have a paint booth for priming if you choose too. It is up to you how many hours you work a day. We recommend 8 to 10 hours a day. We encourage you to convince a family member or a friend to come along and help you out with your tail kit. There is NO additional fee for your helper! It would be very helpful to you if that person has some experience or has taken our Builder Basic Class.

After the ten day Wings Class you have the option to continue building in the hangar.  The cost after the first ten days will be $35 a day or $650 a month for the hangar and the use of tools. Our shop rate is $65 an hour or with a minimum of three hours the rate will be $45 an hour.

Wiring Class

This intensive class is an one 8 hour days class in our facility. This class is normally a one-on-one class. If you have a building partner, that person is welcome to participate at no cost (Everybody likes free).   We will go over basic electricity, schematic & tools. We will look at wire types, gauges, connector, co-ax connectors and miscellaneous plug, switches and lights. We also talk about wire routing and securing wire bundles. We encourage you to begin your drawing and manuals for equipment you plan on installing.

All you have to do is call us and we will do our best to design a class around your needs. We can help you build a panel or install a panel built by someone else. We work with several vendors that built panels. Most of the vendors that build panels will install there panel in your plane at their facility. They normally do not having the man power to travel. We can work with these vendors to help you get started or help with the complete installation.
